Executive Summary

This research and development program involves a series of tasks as listed below:

*Task 1 - Steel selection (alloying, processing, fabrication) and Specimen Preparation
*Task 2 - Evaluation of Steels in CO2 / H2S Environments, to model corrosion dynamics as a function of temperature, pressure, flow and environment
*Task 3 - Analysis of Hydrocarbon and Inhibitor Film formation on selected Steels
*Task 4 - Generation of field data for select parametric combinations to evaluate and validate lab results
*Task 5 - Data interpretation and development of corrosion prediction guidelines
*Task 6 - Incorporation of data and guidelines into computer model to provide a comprehensive Computer-based Corrosion Prediction Tool

Tasks listed above will incorporate statistically designed test matrices to facilitate evaluation and quantification of critical variables and their interactions. The results from this program will be incorporated into a comprehensive engineering database that will be used to develop a rigorous model of corrosion of steels. The model for corrosivity assessment and prediction so developed will be integrated into the current computer-based corrosion prediction model from InterCorr, i.e., PREDICTTM.
